Best Western Carlisle

We used this as a starting point for visiting Gettysburg, and it worked out great. Getting to the highway was easy, and we’ll stay here whenever we travel through the area. Both women at the front desk were sweet, welcoming, and helpful. The man in the breakfast area was friendly and greeted everyone with a beautiful smile. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was good and fully stocked. The breakfast area was clean, too.

The breakfast from 6 to 9 was a highlight for me, with lots of choices: waffles and batter, eggs, sausage, bagels, pastries, cereal, different juices, coffee, and even a yogurt machine. The lobby still sells drinks and snacks after breakfast, at reasonable prices. There’s also a pool, guest laundry, and a fitness room. Our room was clean and looked nice, with queen beds that were actually queen size, a TV, desk, mini fridge, and microwave. One outlet didn’t work, but everything else did. Wi-Fi was free, and my kid didn’t complain about the speed. The hotel was quiet, organized, and clean, and everyone was nice. The front desk guy who checked us in was friendly, our room was a short walk away, and parking was plentiful. It was really affordable in summer, and the location near Hershey park suited us. We had no issues and I’d definitely return.

The bathroom tub was disgusting, and the room looked like a motel 6 with a landlord special. There were odd-colored stains on the chairs, and after moving rooms we saw a roach on the floor. Bad stay, though the wedding was an absolute banger for anyone wondering :) It was midnight when we checked in, the night before my best friend’s wedding, and we had her dress with us. We’d confirmed ahead of time that late checkout would give us time to get ready, but the staff argued about it and tried to deny it. After my friend, the bride holding her wedding dress, asked for another room, an employee with an awful wig got upset and called her dramatic. Our first room’s door wouldn’t shut because the hinge or lock was broken. When we asked to move, the employee dismissed it as a screw issue and said she could fix it herself. We didn’t feel comfortable staying there. She started yelling and slamming drawers, saying she was tired after a long day of playing phone tag and needed to leave. She complained about my friend and said she couldn’t accommodate her. We were eventually moved. Getting there was frustrating too. There were only two luggage carts, and one had only half its wheels. On the way back to the front, we found there was no wheelchair ramp. My belongings spilled into the street when I tried to lift the cart onto the sidewalk by myself, and no one offered help. At the front desk, we were visibly upset, and the receptionist pretended not to speak English to avoid serving us. When we said we’d spoken with her earlier without trouble, she checked us in.

There was a small issue this morning, and management took care of it. I still give it five stars because the people are great. The rooms are clean, and breakfast is continental, but a good one.
