We had a cozy, spacious room that was clean and full of charm, and breakfast was delicious and locally sourced. My wife and I enjoyed chatting with the owners over the meal. We arrived late because of our travel, but Bill and Joanne made it easy and helped us feel at home at the Red Cardinal. We’re already looking forward to coming back. Ask Bill if he’s ever been to Paris.

Joanne and Billy were such welcoming, accommodating hosts, and their home is beautiful. My wife and I had a lovely weekend at the Red Cardinal and would happily return someday. It’s also a handy location for Carlisle, Gettysburg, and Shippensburg. We happened to be going to a show in Shippensburg.

The time to chat with Bill and Joanne was one of the best parts, and breakfast was a treat: coffee ready beforehand and an omelette with eggs from their chickens, plus spinach and chard from the garden. Joanne’s breakfast really impressed me. For AT hikers, I’d recommend taking a zero or nero day here. The guest rooms are comfortable and well appointed, my bed and bathroom were perfect, and Bill takes meticulous care of the terrific house. I also loved the view from the back porch. I’d definitely come back and use Carlisle as a base for a loop in southern PA. Ask Bill and Joanne about Paris!

The food was yummy, and Joanne makes a different breakfast cake each day to finish off the meal. Bill and Joanne were attentive hosts who noticed details and went out of their way to anticipate what we needed. We’re elderly, and they graciously helped carry our bags and get us up the steps. I’d recommend this B&B whenever you’re in the area.

Coming back after a long day of training to unpack the day over tea and greet conversation was a delight. I felt like part of the family, which was the best part of my stay. Bill and Joanne are kind, thoughtful hosts, and my room was spacious and really comfortable. The three course breakfasts were different every day over the four days I was there. The farm fresh eggs were delicious, and so were the fresh baked cookies and treats. I really enjoyed the visit and can’t wait to return.
