Extended Stay America Suites Carlsbad Village by the Sea

The front desk staff were nice, and the location is great. That’s about all I can say for it. The place was dirty and worn down: for all four days, bits of trash like a straw and a clothing tag sat in the grimy corner of the tiny, dirty elevator. The hallways smelled, the shower drain was rusted, and the rooms have popcorn ceilings. There’s no room service, and the so-called breakfast is a joke. If you want a nice place, this isn’t it. I’d avoid it.

The staff have been so kind and willing to understand and work with people. I’ve been here for over a week and haven’t been bothered by noisy neighbors or anything out of the ordinary. The atmosphere feels comfortable, and the rooms are clean and ready for guests when they arrive. The kitchens are simple to use and have everything you need. It’s near everything, and for a short stay it’s wonderful and worth every penny. If you need a place for a longer stay while getting life back on track, this feels like a good space to restart. The process was simple, and my stay has been phenomenal.

We were so uncomfortable with the state of the room that we checked out immediately. There were roaches near the bed and in the bathroom, and we even caught one as proof. It was unacceptable. It’s been six days since then, and management still hasn’t contacted us about either the complaint or our refund request. I hope they take this seriously so other guests don’t run into the same problem.

The staff work well together, and when something comes up, everyone pitches in to resolve it. The general manager is kind and knowledgeable and runs things efficiently. I’ve been staying here since September, and as a traveler I find the location really convenient. There are lots of restaurants nearby, the ocean is beautiful, Carlsbad Village is amazing, and it’s close to both the freeway and San Diego airport. The full kitchen is a big plus, especially being able to bring in groceries and cook. Cookware is available at the front desk, so ask when making your reservation if you’d like it ready for you. There are carts for luggage and groceries, too, and it’s appreciated when guests return them to the lobby. The pool is a quiet place to relax before going to the beach or after coming back. One note: the hotel has been renovated recently, and most of the reviews I read were dated before the renovation and the new GM and staff. I recommend it highly.
