The cabin itself was unsanitary, so we left after one day. There was poop in the toilet when we arrived, and dirt and dead bugs well beyond what I'd expect in a cabin by the water. The carpet badly needed vacuuming; the table had sticky residue and spilled condiments, and there were crumbs all over the chairs. The sheets and blankets were dirty, one twin bed skirt was stained all over, maybe with dog pee, and the floor was incredibly sticky. There also seemed to be mold under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I bought Clorox wipes and cleaned some surfaces, and the wipe turned black. There was a “be back in 15 minute” sign at the desk, so good luck finding someone there. The location was beautiful. It was quiet, the other cabin guests were good neighbors, and it was lovely to step outside and see the water. That's why we booked a cabin, but the filth made us leave after one day.

After just an hour in the room, I couldn't stay because it was so dirty. There was hair in the bedding, stains on the sheets, and the white top bedspread had turned yellow and brown. I found fake eyelashes and more hair in the bathroom. They said they'd clean again, but I ended up vacuuming myself in desperation. It didn't look like the corners or the carpet along the walls had ever been cleaned. I'd read reviews about bed bugs, and after seeing the room I just couldn't stay. They still charged us the full rate. Maybe I should send them a cleaning bill. The housekeeper seemed to feel bad, but the woman at the desk didn't seem alarmed by what I showed her, so the bar is low. I've stayed at plenty of rural motels with basic rooms that still take cleaning seriously. This isn't one of them. Avoid it if cleanliness matters or you have another option.

It was nearly empty, with maybe one or two other guests, and the place smelled awful. I think the odor came from the surrounding farms. Before checking out, I thought I could fill my cooler with ice since the other guests had left. The woman there complained that then other guests wouldn't have any. Lady, there was nobody else around. I was the only one there.

The layout felt more like an extended stay room, and though the hotel is a little dated, it was comfortable. The bed was good, the location was good, and the staff were helpful. For the price, I couldn't ask for better.

We rented the cabin for one night, and it was filthy, run down, and not stocked at all. It was a total waste of over $300, especially with much better options for the price in the area. The staff were friendly, but it still felt like a total ripoff.
