Extended Stay America Pittsburgh Carnegie

The staff were nice, but they didn't handle concerns well, and the room was in awful shape. I was told before arriving that the hotel had been without hot water for a week, with no accommodation offered. I ended up leaving after a week, even though it was closer to work. I'd rather drive farther for a more comfortable stay, especially when I'm there for months. A place where people live and work should still be treated like any other hotel. Housekeeping needs to do more than change linens and open a window. They have apparently been offering candy for reviews, and I don't understand why, since the place doesn't deserve a good one. My room was supposedly cleaned just before I arrived, but all they seemed to do was put on sheets, leave towels, and put a bag in the trash can. The floor hadn't been swept or mopped, and the shower and the back of the bathroom door were filthy. The whole room needed a deep clean. I clean wherever I stay, but this was beyond that. I wish I'd taken pictures. The TV didn't work, and I was told there weren't any others. The next day they offered to move me or give me a discount. Since I was there for work, I chose the discount. I booked through the reservation line and was told the first week would cost more, with the rest of the stay at a lower rate. When they offered the discount, the price for the later weeks was the same as what I'd already been quoted, so there was no discount. I pointed that out, and was told the reservation line had given me the wrong price and I should have called the desk. I figured they worked for the same company, but the desk quoted a much higher rate and said prices had gone up. I want the price I was given, not one they came up with.

I'm glad they let me stay with my two cats, and in my experience the neighbors were quiet at night. During the day, though, children often ran and screamed inside and outside the building. There's a fairly large outdoor space with a picnic table, but watch out for some sketchy people. Snacks and oatmeal by the entrance were a nice touch. The staff were fantastic, even with power outages and other difficult residents around. One tip: keep your keycard away from your phone and car keys, since they can demagnetize it.

The staff were always warm and friendly, and the place stayed quiet, so I slept well each night. My room was clean and cozy, with a heater that worked great even on very cold days. I spent six nights here for a convention in Pittsburgh as a cheaper option than staying downtown. Most days, the drive into the city took just ten minutes.

Debbie got everything arranged for me at short notice. I arrived after hours, but my room was ready and fully prepared. I stayed about a month at Extended Stay America Suites – Pittsburgh–Carnegie, and the staff were consistently kind, professional, and happy to help with a smile. The amenities covered what I needed for a comfortable stay, whether short or long. I really enjoyed my time there and would 100% recommend it to anyone needing an extended stay.
