WoodSpring Suites Carol Stream - Chicago

I found dead cockroaches and one that was still alive but stuck on a pest trap under the sink. The room looked super clean at first, and the bed was comfy, but I opened the cabinets to see whether there were utensils for the electric stove top, microwave, and full fridge. That’s when I found the roaches. The front desk was closed and nobody was available, so I left. I hope this helps someone avoid the place unless they want to take cockroaches home.

My fiancé and I stayed here for quite a while, and Eric at the front desk made it memorable. He always greeted us with a warm smile and real kindness, and whenever we had questions, he knew the answer. He kept making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. Honestly, I’m surprised he isn’t already a manager. If there were a chance for him to take that role, he’d have my full support. Eric really shows what good hospitality feels like.

The customer service here was the absolute worst I’ve ever had. I don’t know her name, but the African-American manager was very, very rude. I asked about an extra charge and she called me too entitled. She wouldn’t give me towels even though I brought the used ones down, and after I’d paid, she wouldn’t let me into my room. I had to ask housekeeping to let me in. If you stay because the prices are good, expect the worst customer service experience.

The room was clean and updated, though there was obvious water damage in the bathroom. At check-in, the employees were friendly, even though they had loud music playing. Not much is provided free here, like utensils, pans, or a coffee pot. If you want any of that, don’t stay at a WoodSpring unless you’re willing to buy it yourself. The walls are extremely thin. I could hear dogs barking at all hours, people talking loudly outside and in the hallway, and other activities I shouldn’t have been able to hear. People seemed to hang around outside all day, so the noise carried in. Unless you have to stay here, I’d choose somewhere else if you want to sleep peacefully.
