Hampton Inn & Suites Carolina Beach Oceanfront

We had a perfect beach view, and the lobby and grounds were beautiful and well kept. The rooms were clean, with comfortable beds and plenty of pillows. Breakfast was complimentary and had a great variety. We visited in January, so the pool was closed, but it looked immaculate and was a nice size.

Customer service was excellent, and the breakfast had a great range, including turkey, which I appreciated since I don't eat pork. The location is beautiful and convenient, and the rooms were spacious and mostly clean. Our bathroom had some dirt and stains on the seat and floor, though it wasn't too bad. Cleanliness may be a bit of a gamble since some rooms are better cared for than others. We also had a problem with the balcony door, so watch out for that. We'll be back!

The breakfast and the breakfast staff were awesome, and our family enjoyed the stay. The hotel and room felt fresh and clean, and every staff member we ran into greeted us warmly and treated us so well. I highly recommend it.

Our first stay was just one night last week with family. We were greeted warmly, check-in was seamless, and arriving at 4 p.m. mid-week meant parking was easy to find. They let us know at check-in that parking would cost $10 per night. We were fine with that since shopping, dining, and the beach were all walkable, so we didn't need to drive. Our rooms, 300 and 412, both had amazing Atlantic ocean views and easy beach access. There was also a pool, an outdoor tiki bar lounge, and an outdoor firepit. The continental breakfast was what you'd expect at a hotel with the same accommodations, and the staff kept it clean and well stocked. The beds, though, were extremely uncomfortable and lumpy, with flat pillows that had very little cushion. Both rooms had the coffee maker on the bathroom counter, which wasn't for us. The rooms were very clean, but just before checkout we saw a cockroach scurrying across the floor and quickly checked all our things so we wouldn't take any hitchhikers home. I told the front desk and showed them a photo. They seemed sorry and waived the parking charge as a remedy. A few days later the hotel emailed to ask about our stay. I shared all of this and got a response the next day. They didn't address the beds or bathroom coffee makers, but apologized for the pest and said they'd told staff to send an exterminator to the room. I appreciated the quick reply and understand these things can happen, but the negatives were too much for me to come back.
