Even though the room was clean and the bed comfortable, this was my second stay and will be my last. I wanted to give them another chance. I hadn’t requested a non-smoking room because I assumed rooms were non-smoking unless asked for, but ours reeked of cigarette smoke. You could smell it all down the hall. My Lab was charged only $17, which almost felt offensive after being put in a room that smelled that bad. My house-trained, well-behaved, very clean dog made no mess and left no odor, but that cigarette smell will linger forever. There were poorly patched and painted spots on the walls, and the bathtub had been removed and replaced with a shower whose floor tile work was very poorly done. The ice machine was broken, too. The room was large, with a king-sized bed and sofa, but after driving 12 hours I didn’t ask to move to a room that didn’t stink. My mom lives nearby, so I asked her to stop by before we checked out and headed home to Austin. At exactly 11 AM, the person who checked me in the night before knocked to tell me it was time to leave. I was finishing packing and would have been out in 15 minutes. I know checkout is at 11 AM, but in my 30-plus years of renting hotel rooms, nobody has knocked at checkout to tell me to leave. They also deactivated my key card at exactly 11 AM. I found out when I came back from taking bags to the car and couldn’t get in. I had to track someone down to let me back in for the rest of my things. Feeling so rushed, I left my phone charger behind.

For $70, my wife and I expected the breakfast listed on their website. In the morning there was only coffee and really bad orange juice. When I asked the front desk where breakfast was, the woman said they didn’t serve any. I showed her the website listing, and she said it shouldn’t be there and that they were working on it. I suppose that means they might add breakfast in the future, but they certainly didn’t have it then.

On Christmas Eve, we checked in, got our room assignment, and left for a family party without looking at the room first. When we came back, it was absolutely gross. The sheets were very dirty, and the pillows smelled of body odor. We checked out at the front desk and complained. They said the housekeeper hadn’t come that day, so why assign us a room that hadn’t been serviced? We went next door, and I called to make sure the fees would be returned to my card. Don’t stay here. The Best Western was only $5 more, much nicer, and included a decent breakfast. Its sheets were clean and the room had been properly serviced.

Look around before booking. After check-in, they had to move us to a different room and charged us more. Breakfast had been offered when we booked, but the place was under construction and all they had was chips for cash. The work area felt unsafe, with screws on the floors, and the rooms and hallways were dusty. The woman at the counter wasn’t very nice. This hotel really did us wrong, and I hate leaving bad reviews.

My boyfriend and I left after less than two hours because we didn’t feel comfortable staying there. The room was super dirty, with stains on the comforter that looked like it hadn’t been washed and a used bar of soap in the shower. The toilet was coming off the wall when I sat down. We couldn’t get a single TV channel to work, and there was no free “expanded” cable. The website pictured a “light bar” under the jacuzzi, but there wasn’t one. We checked out, and the owner wouldn’t refund us. Terrible. I’ll never recommend it to anyone.
