Rodeway Inn Magic Mountain Area

Being close to Magic Mountain was the only good thing. The room was dirty, stained, and run down, and the pool was extremely dirty and not heated as advertised. The place was way overpriced, with amenities and pictures that felt like false advertising. Breakfast was the main reason I booked, so I could eat before the park. The desk attendant acted like he didn't want to be there and gave me no information about pool or breakfast hours. At 8:30 I went down looking forward to waffles after seeing the pictures, but there was nothing there. I had to spend more money to get food before going to the park, wasting both time and money. I'm very upset and wish I could get my money back. What a huge disappointment. Do not give them your money. Stay elsewhere.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and the limited complimentary food in the morning was much appreciated for the price. This was a 4.6 star experience for what it is, and there's a good chance I'll stay here again on my next travels. I was grateful to find it as part of Choice Hotels. It's an older building in an older part of town at the top of the Grapevine, with heavy semi-truck traffic. The room was satisfactory, though the bed was old and the room could've been a little cleaner. For the region, I'd challenge anyone to find a more cost-effective hotel option. You get what you pay for.

The one good part of the stay was the friendly, welcoming front desk staff. The rest was awful, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially for a family. We booked for a family trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain, trusting Choice Hotels as a member and expecting a certain level of care. Breakfast was just cereal with no milk, a few waffles, and nothing else. We arrived late at night. Outside the room there was a strong urine smell, and inside, the walls had dirt, stains, smears, and marks behind the doors. It looked as if the room hadn't been cleaned in years, which was horrifying with my children there. The beds were uncomfortable, with springs poking through. In the bathroom there were nasty marks, rust, and what looked like mold on the ceiling. The towels were stained and looked used, and they only gave us two for our reservation of four guests. Toilet paper had been stuffed into places as a supposed fix. The rest of the property outside the rooms was filthy too. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've had. The conditions felt unsanitary and unsafe, and staying there was a complete rip-off and below the standards hotels should meet. Choice Hotels should seriously reconsider being associated with a property in this condition.

I stayed for two nights. The TV didn't work the whole time, and the room looked dirty when I arrived, though I brushed it off and went to sleep. I've stayed here more than once, and after a bad experience I complained. They put me on a do not rent list, claiming I'd destroyed the room. If that were even close to true, I wouldn't have gotten my deposit back, and I did. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
