I was blown away by the 180 degree views, quiet setting, and great service when I arrived. The front desk agent was upbeat and helpful, and the restaurant was impeccable. I came for the heat bites and shrimp and grits, but stayed for the service. The GM stopped by to talk with us, too. What a wonderful person. The renovation looks beautiful, floor to ceiling. I loved having champagne on the back porch, and can’t wait to come back for the pool. I just wish I’d had more time to enjoy the place. Getting here from downtown San Antonio was easy, quicker from my house than going to La Cantera or The Rim. 12/10, I’ll be back!

The hotel itself was beautiful, and we were in the area for a wedding last weekend. But traffic noise from the busy highway nearby was hard to ignore. For $300 a night, we expected more from a boutique spa and something better than the Hilton or Marriot. The room was nice, but the appliances were cheap and need updating. The AC vents were moldy, the coffee maker was broken, the mattress was rock hard and left us both with sore backs, and there was loose dirt on the tile. Even the scratchy, hard makeup remover towel didn’t feel spa grade, as my wife pointed out. The front desk interaction made things worse. I told the woman working about the broken coffee maker, and she only said she’d tell maintenance. No apology, no solution. The customer service was severely lacking. We won’t be back. FYI, we were in room 216 last Friday.

We stayed in the Luxury Suite Room for the weekend and held our wedding Welcome dinner at Hillside boutique Hotel. Cristina and Rebecca went above and beyond to get all the details right. Planning and customer service were amazing, and the food was incredible. We’ll definitely return for future wedding anniversaries!

We had an outstanding Veterans Day dinner at La Colline with my family. The cuisine was supreme, and Misty and Bella were both professional and courteous. I recommend everyone have a dining experience like ours. AWESOME! 🫡🍴

Hillside Boutique Hotel is a great spot for a Christmas party, wedding, romantic escape, or even a rest if you’re passing through. It’s not often a place gets updated while keeping the character and ambiance of the past. In Castroville, that Alsatian flavor and history feel rich and unique, with its own heritage. Highly recommend stopping for a while.
