Homewood Suites by Hilton Cathedral City Palm Springs

The location was quiet, with a great mountain view, and convenient for downtown and spots in the southern Coachella Valley. We liked having a kitchen for nights when we were too tired to go out, and the place was comfortable for our three-week stay. Housekeeping was inconsistent about replacing things we'd used, so we often had to go downstairs to the desk for supplies. The bedroom A/C was extremely loud. After we complained, they did something and it became only very loud. The unit in the living and kitchen area was almost silent. Breakfast was free and typical, adequate but not especially tasty or healthy. They served breakfast tacos one morning that were pretty good, but didn't have them again. Rental bikes were available, though clunky and expensive, and it was nice to get out for a ride.

We always choose this Hilton when we're in town. The pool is beautiful and well kept, and our rooms have been spotless and comfortable. Having a kitchen makes each stay easier, and breakfast always has lots of good options. The staff are consistently welcoming and helpful. Karisma deserves a special thank you. She upgraded our room for free because we're Hilton Members, and once again made the stay memorable. She's kind, professional, and attentive. We look forward to coming back.

I had a great first stay in March and left a five-star review about it two months ago, so I was looking forward to returning to Homewood Suites Cathedral City Palm Springs for Memorial Day weekend. My last morning there turned into a really disappointing experience because of Christina at the front desk. I asked her about a late check-out and she immediately asked whether I was a Diamond member. I wasn't sure, so I gave her my name and reservation details. After confirming I wasn't Diamond, she firmly said checkout was at 11 a.m. I checked the Hilton Honors app on my way back to my room and saw that late checkout is a benefit at all membership tiers, subject to room availability. When I returned to ask whether it depended on status or availability, Christina stuttered and vaguely said it was "a little bit of both." She got defensive when I said that conflicted with what she'd told me and that she'd lied. I explained she'd set 11 a.m. as my checkout time because I wasn't Diamond, which was unfair. Instead of apologizing or handling it professionally, she said there was "no point in discussing it" because nothing would change. When I asked for a manager, she said none were available and she was in charge. About 40 minutes later, she called my room to offer late checkout, but the damage was done and I declined. I suspect a room hadn't actually opened up and she was trying to cover her mistake after I said I'd leave feedback. I didn't receive a survey for this stay, though I had received one within 24 hours of checkout for each of my two recent stays before it. That makes me think Christina manipulated the system so I wouldn't be able to leave feedback. I've stayed at Hilton properties three times in the past 10 weeks just to earn points and build status, so this was especially disappointing. Christina lied, misrepresented hotel policy, and showed poor customer service. She's been mentioned in a negative review before and is a poor representative of the Hilton brand. I'll be reconsidering future Hilton stays and looking at other hotel loyalty programs.

The front desk staff were great, the rooms are beautiful, and the mountain view is lovely. The Wednesday food was great too, and summer prices are nice. But one housekeeping guy on the second floor disturbed me. Around 9 a.m., with the DND sign on the door, he gave one quick knock and then forced his way into my room. I wasn't checking out for another couple of days, so there was no reason to come in. I saw the reviews saying he had apparently done this before, and I don't know what his motive was. It was unsettling. I'd still recommend the place.
