Hyatt Vacation Club at Desert Oasis

The one-bedroom villa was clean, spacious, and amazing. There are lots of amenities, including two pools, a hot tub, and a playroom full of activities for kids. Cathedral Golf course is only a four-minute walk to the pro shop. The front desk was friendly and helpful, and we had an amazing time. We'd definitely return.

For a three-star hotel, this was exceptional. The converted timeshare had a full kitchen with supplies, an in-unit stacked washer and dryer, a living room and dining area, walk-in closet, and private balcony. There was plenty of free parking, and staff were friendly and willing to help. The building is two stories with no elevators. I arrived late and left early, so I didn't get to see the rest of the hotel or the surrounding area. Agoda hadn't indicated that the property charges a resort fee. I found an amazing rate the day after Coachella, and would return for a longer stay so I could enjoy the room more. My main complaint is the 4 p.m. check-in and 10 a.m. checkout, which are later and earlier than most.

I spent a week here with a friend. The unit was basically a one-bedroom apartment, nice and well maintained despite the building being 50 years old. My host had a timeshare, but I could see renting one here like a regular hotel room. The units seem to come with full kitchens and in-unit washers and dryers, which was great. Don't expect much from the golf course or other amenities. They're nearby, but not part of this property. The golf course is falling apart, and the other amenities aren't included.

The next day, I told Management about the incident, and they were very concerned. Their apology was sincere. The property itself is beautiful and relaxing, but I had an unpleasant encounter with a staff member who acted unprofessionally and appeared racist. He'd failed to review the hotel notes, which led to a misunderstanding, then quickly threatened to call security without justification. Even after I showed proof of my reservation, he wrongly claimed I wasn't legally checked in and threatened to involve law enforcement. I calmly asked for a manager, but his attitude got worse. I showed him a receipt and proof of payment; he contacted someone, was told to give me keys, and handed them over in a hurry without apologizing. I wasn't rude to him, and couldn't understand why he was so rude to me.
