Savoie's Lodging

The cabin was cute, but I had a terrible night and wouldn’t recommend this place. It cost me $170 for one night, and I was still charged the full price when I left early. When I checked out, I explained the problems to a man in the front office, including that Expedia doesn’t mention these conditions and it might help to add them. He argued with me about everything, even though I wasn’t rude. I finally had to say I wasn’t trying to offend him, just let him know. I manage customer service at a major financial institution, and that interaction really lowered my opinion of the place. Attitude could have changed everything. My cabin wouldn’t lock, so I had to wedge a rock against the door. A car parked right next to it, and someone slept in the car. With the door not locking properly, I didn’t feel safe sleeping. The cabin was freezing at night and sweltering during the day. I have a thyroid condition that affects my ability to regulate temperature, and if I’d known about this, I wouldn’t have booked it on Expedia.

We found such a lovely little place and are so glad we did. The owners are friendly, amazing people who actually spend time with their guests, and we’ll definitely be back. The cabins are very clean, and the linens smell like fresh laundry instead of that musty motel smell. It’s peaceful and quiet, a nice break from busy everyday life, while still being close to the main attractions and away from the hustle and bustle.

At night they light a campfire, and people sit around chatting about the day over a beer or two. Everyone I met was friendly and relaxed. We brought our dog since the cabins are pet friendly. They’re not on a lake, but it’s about 3.5 miles to Meredith and just as close to Center Harbor. For the price of a campsite, Savoie's is a real bargain. We stayed in a small, quaint cabin in mid-August. I think they said the cabins date to the 1940s. Ours was clean, the mattress was decent, the water was hot, and the grounds were spotless.

Between adventures, these humble little cabins are a great place to rest your head. You’ve got hot water, a shower, a toilet, and a bed, and Susane and Norman(s) are great hosts. Best part about Savoie's... MR. BIGS!
