Rodeway Inn & Suites Chandler - Phoenix South I-10

Most of the front desk staff were really nice, but the overnight person treated every request like a bother, even asking for an ice bucket liner. The price made the condition harder to accept. We paid $400 for two nights during a festival weekend, when rates were inflated, plus a $150 security deposit that wasn't disclosed when we booked. I'd expect cable at that price, but the TV wasn't connected. When I explained it, they gave me remote batteries and said someone from facilities would come in the morning. Nobody came. I tried the batteries just to be thorough, though the remote wasn't the problem, and of course that didn't fix it. The linens looked clean, but the room itself was filthy. There was a brown splatter under the desk, and I found a glucose test strip on the floor that neither my husband nor I use. The laminate flooring was crumbling in our room and upstairs hallway. I can't think of anything in the hotel I could damage enough to justify that $150 deposit when so much was already broken.

At $160 a night, I expected a clean room in decent shape, even knowing it was basic. Instead, the room was dirty, the walls were grimy, the hallway and room floors were peeling, and the furniture, fridge, and microwave were in very poor condition. The TV didn't work, and there were roaches. Gross. The $150 deposit feels like a lot given the state of the room and everything in it. At least the front desk person was efficient and okay to deal with. I won't be back.

We ended up leaving and going to the La Quinta down the street. At check-in, they asked for a $150 deposit that hadn't been mentioned when we spoke with hotel staff or in the Expedia listing. The building also looked nothing like the advertisement. The front desk guy was asleep in a room, and my husband had to knock several times to get him. We're disputing the room change. We didn't read the reviews before booking, so please do. I wouldn't recommend this place. Buyer beware.

The location was the one plus for us as out-of-towners, with everything a reasonable distance away. The room itself was filthy and smelled bad. The bathroom was disgusting, the walls were grimy, and nothing seemed to have been wiped down or dusted. There was a stale, musty smell, and even the water smelled funky. The fridge was broken and dirty with old spilled food, the microwave had old splatters, and the TV didn't work. I took a few photos and recorded video of the rest. Do not stay here.
