Extended Stay America Washington D.C. Chantilly Airport

I stayed for an hour before leaving for a better hotel. There was black mold in the air vents, dirt in the tub and on the doors, used contact lenses on the floor, and garbage piled up outside my door. I was promised a refund and haven’t heard anything in six weeks. This place is disgusting and unlivable, and the people running it are dishonest.

The rooms were fine, but the front desk turned the whole stay into a terrible experience. Between 1:30 and 3 a.m., my fiancée and I were trying to check in early for our reservation at the Dulles location. The desk person raised his voice, wouldn’t let us explain, and said he wouldn’t honor the reservation for early check-in. He looked either asleep or extremely high, wasn’t dressed properly, and looked completely homeless. I was not okay with that level of rudeness or with how aggressive and disrespectful he was. Whatever his day was like, there was no reason to treat us that way or show so little care. I’ll call guest relations when they open. Management shouldn’t let someone so unprofessional work at a hotel. If he stays at this location, he could eventually make the hotel completely broke. For the trouble this caused my fiancée and me tonight, I’d like a free night or two. I’m giving everything one star, even if the rest is extremely good.

I was only here for 3 1/2 hours before a flight, and it was probably the worst hotel stay I’ve had, even compared with places I’ve picked to save money. The bed was like a creaky old fold-out futon, the room was old and dirty, and it took me 10 minutes to find one trash can. The lobby reeked of alcohol. It was late, but I still waited 35 minutes for someone to come to the desk and check me in. The guy wasn’t friendly, and looked like he’d just woken from a nap or was stoned. I wasn’t expecting a big smile at that hour, just basic courtesy while I was trying to stay nice despite being annoyed. I won’t stay here again next time I’m in the DC area.

There are lots of trees and a pond here, with birds singing all around. The night and morning front desk staff were helpful and friendly, and the service was great.
