The Siena Hotel, Autograph Collection

The Sienna is currently closed for renovations, but our wedding there was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, everything came together, and we're very happy we chose it.

We picked the Siena hotel for our anniversary. The location just down the street from UNC worked perfectly, and the restaurant was superb, with wonderful people working there. The bar was amazing, and the staff knew their stuff. Service was excellent, and our room was very nice and clean enough. I did find some very long black hairs on the bathroom towels. I know long hair can be hard to get off everything, but it wasn't great to see. The part I didn't care for was paying for breakfast. At $300 a night, I feel there should be a nice complimentary breakfast.

The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. I liked having free coffee in the lobby in the mornings and hot cocoa on cold evenings. I can't speak to the Italian restaurant, but paying upwards $40 for plain spaghetti seems absurd, especially having been to plenty of good, authentic Italian places serving handmade pasta. The rooms are large and the bathrooms updated, but there are things that need attention: chipped doors, dusty, discolored crown molding, and rust and moldy corners in my shower. There's also a booklet on the desk saying critters frequent the rooms in summer. That's a strange thing to expect guests to tolerate in a 4+ star hotel. The hotel sits off a busy two-way, six-lane street, so I'd ask for a room toward the back or sides to cut down on noise. It's not a bad hotel, but I'm not convinced it's worth the stars or price. I've had better stays at boutiques and other Autograph hotels.

I stopped in for a night as a travel agent to see what the experience would be like for my clients. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived early, and I didn't have to wait for my room. Both agents were busy but greeted me as soon as I came in. There was ample parking, everything was clean and in place, and the room was in perfect condition. No complaints, and I'd gladly send clients here. The only downside is the location near the street, where you may hear traffic.
