My room had a tractor and farming theme, a good fit for Charles City, Iowa. Each room has its own look, and this really is an individual, family-run motel, which I’m a fan of compared with chain places. It’s low-tech and a little faded, but still fine for the price. There’s WiFi and a small fridge that worked, except when it didn’t. The bathroom was clean but dingy, and the bed was comfortable. A quiet, quaint room in a great spot in town, with a soft, comfy bed. Just needed a travel companion 😉😍❤️👀

The only thing that looked new was the quilt. There were socks and wrappers under the bed, so I wondered if the room had even been cleaned. Odd knickknacks were scattered around, including Christmas decorations and a box of Christmas cookies. I don’t know how they called it “newly remodeled.” Tara at the front desk was great, even while the owner yelled at her from the back as she was checking us in.

We stayed in room #9, the two-bed room, on Memorial Day night. The TV didn’t work. I left at 4 am to drive back to Arizona, and about halfway to Des Moines I started itching. I had lots of bedbug bites. That was a miserable, itchy ride home, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I had a bad feeling when I took the room. Never again.

The woman running the office was very nice and handled anything I needed. It’s a unique little motel, and I didn’t have a single problem during my stay. I’d gladly stay there again.
