I couldn’t download the app for the spots around the property, but the place was cute to explore. There was a shed with lots of historical stories posted, which helped.

The audio tour on the UniGuide App helped me learn about Piney Grove and its different dwellings at all fifteen stops. There’s also a brochure with a detailed map of the seven-acre property for anyone who’d rather not use tech. Historically, the site covered more than 300 acres. The architecture is bespoke, and you can tell the curator cares deeply about preservation and Virginia architecture. It’s a wonderful stop on a road trip through Charles City County, VA. I’d recommend it to anyone curious about history, architecture, traditional building methods, or just the place they’re visiting or passing through. 10/10, can’t wait to come back!
