We stayed in the St. Michael's room and loved the view of the St. Michael's Church steeple. The Governor's Inn was quiet despite its fantastic location, and the staff, especially Karen, Cathy and Ross, were wonderful and accommodating. The property is beautiful, with quaint decor, and our room had everything we needed. I spent a little more than I usually would, but it was worth every penny. We’ll definitely be back.

The Governor's House Inn made a strong impression the moment we walked in: a well-lit Colonial Mansion, classic music, and a decanter of sherry. We’d already spoken with Karen and Kimberly on several calls after booking, and their advice about Charleston restaurants and places to see was invaluable. Since we arrived after hours, the check-in video made getting in simple. The next day, Karen and Kimberly were just as kind and helpful in person. We also enjoyed the daily afternoon spread of wine, sherry, and food. The mansion is in a pleasant neighborhood with plenty of nearby places to eat and drink, and its free, secure, plentiful parking is right behind the building. Other inns seemed to have guests park a block away, so that convenience mattered a lot to us. We were impressed by the history too: the house belonged to a signer of the Declaration of Independence and hosted George Washington for four evenings during his 1791 visit to Charleston.

We came to Charleston to get married the next day at White Point Garden, and Tracy went out of her way to help with all the small wedding-day details. She even drove us several blocks to the ceremony. Earlier, we’d had a great time talking with "Q" as she showed us around and made us feel at home. The Governor's House Inn is a beautiful, well-decorated B&B in a convenient historic Charleston location, and we enjoyed sharing in its history.

The breakfast and afternoon tea were both delicious, and I liked having alternatives at breakfast if the planned meal wasn’t what you wanted. The 4pm tea came with wine, tea, coffee, and sweet and savory snacks, served on antique dishes and serving pieces that suited the house. Staff were wonderful about helping plan each day, from restaurant, tour, and site suggestions to making reservations and arranging a cab. We stayed in the top-floor "St. Michael's" room, with a stunning view of the church steeple at night. The whole house was charming and beautifully preserved, and the room felt like home. Being on Broad street meant we could walk to downtown sights without renting a car. My husband and I loved our stay and would absolutely return. It made the trip.

We were made to feel like family at this historic Inn. The owners, who were on the property, gave us a guided tour and knew so much about the house and Charleston. We smoked cigars and drank aged cognac on the porch, and they even prepared a special dinner for us twice. The suites were spotless, furnished in a classic, comfortable style, and well appointed, with comfortable beds. We plan to come back soon.
