Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charleston Dwtn - Westedge by IHG

The front desk team was welcoming, and the lobby and breakfast area were clean and spacious. Our room was older, especially the carpet and bathroom, but it had enough wardrobe space, plus a mini fridge and microwave. The fitness center is very basic, so that may matter if you plan to use it. Our TV had no connection. I asked the desk to send someone, but nobody came, and my daughter and I missed two nights of the Olympics. We didn't get to try breakfast, though it looked like a full hot spread and even had a fun pancake machine. For an inexpensive place to sleep while visiting Charleston for a College of Charleston accepted student event, I thought it was a good value.

Basic place, and I've stayed in worse, but I wouldn't come back. The staff are nice, though they don't communicate much. I found the room mediocre, even if it seemed clean, and rooms aren't serviced every day. They should mention that at check-in, especially since there wasn't anywhere to hang towels. I got back late and didn't want to go looking for clean ones. The air-conditioning fan was another problem. It hummed loudly and never shut off, whatever setting I tried. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Kyle and Alicia made my wife and me feel very welcome as their first Romantic Getaway Weekend guests. The room was lovely, and they brought us Prosecco and a beautiful plate of chocolate-covered treats. Such warm hospitality, thank you!

Kyler is amazing at daytime hotel management. He's friendly, knows his stuff, and gave us the best customer service. The one downside was the computerized coffee machine at breakfast. It takes ages, so there's always a line. We'll be back!
