The General Stanton Inn

For my daughter's 30th birthday, we booked a room because we've always been interested in the paranormal and watched all kinds of shows about it together. Felicia, the lovely manager, gave us a free upgrade when she heard we wanted the room with the most activity. The rooms are on the small side but just right, and they left a card for my daughter. The beds were so comfy, and the bath was gorgeous with lovely amenities. The restaurant was perfect too. The salmon was done right, and you really need to get the garlic bread tower. So good. When we arrived, our engaging front desk agent took us on a tour and explained the history of this beautiful inn. We did experience paranormal activity, which was exciting. I won't share it all here, but it was friendly activity. If you're nearby, don't miss this beautiful inn with a great restaurant, staff, rooms, and atmosphere. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so memorable. We loved it and can't wait to return!

We already liked eating here, and finally stayed overnight in one of the rooms facing outdoors. It was a great stay, even though we were on the RI coast in December during a snowstorm. We have family in the area, but I'd still say give it a try. The rooms have heated bathrooms, plenty of hooks and storage, and I loved the shower's roomy niche. The bed had real sheets and blankets, plus great pillows and a mattress. The people were so nice they offered to clear the snow off our car in the morning. They make a great old fashioned, which we should try for New Year's sometime. It's a lovely slice of history and more comfortable than even an upscale chain hotel.

We made New Year's Eve reservations for 12, planning mostly cocktails and appetizers, though some of us ordered dinner too. Dave and Jackie were the warmest hosts I've come across in a long time. They treated us like guests in their home, and the staff, including our bartender Nicky, had that same welcoming attitude. With fireplaces going and winter decorations in every room, the atmosphere was lovely; the place was clean and the menu, from cocktails to food, couldn't be beaten by another restaurant in the area. It's also an easy, quick trip from Westerly. Highly recommend giving them a chance. Thanks again!

My sister and I shared a wedding reception at the General Stanton Inn in October 2025, and we can't say enough about how wonderful it was. We stayed overnight afterward and were able to check in early so we could get ready for the reception. The rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. We left the event decorations and setup to the staff, and they did an amazing job. We heard lots of positive feedback about the food too, especially the short ribs. For a quaint historic setting, we'd recommend this place for events like ours or just an overnight stay. Thanks to everyone who made our reception so special. It's a night we'll remember for the rest of our lives.
