The bed was fine and the price beat the nearby hotels. If you grade on a curve, it gets the job done, but don't expect luxury or dependable plumbing. I'd give the hospitality report card a solid C. Check-in went smoothly until my key card turned out to be useless, so I went back to the desk with my luggage. The bathroom had a clogged toilet and a few German cockroaches, and the shower was barely more than a drizzle. The water stayed somewhere between refreshingly cool and “was there supposed to be hot water?” The vending and ice room had overflowing trash, as if nobody had cleaned up after a party.

The bed was good, and the towels and pillows were good too. For a night, it's adequate and not horrible if you just need somewhere to stay, but you get what you pay for. The location is tucked far back from the road and almost hidden, which felt a little unsafe. The building and grounds aren't attractive, and there's mildew, an open electrical switch outside the bathroom, worn paint markings, and a tub that's difficult for 70-year-olds to navigate. There are no TV instructions, and the remote isn't intuitive. Breakfast was frozen biscuits and coffee, with no water, tea, or fruit cups. With so little attention to detail, I wondered what else I might be missing.

Check-in and checkout were very easy, and the room was exceptionally clean. We checked every nook and cranny with a blue light and were impressed. We stayed just one night and didn't have breakfast. The room was in a decent enough area, with Vavela Cafe only 3 minutes away by car; we had an incredible experience there, which is enough to make me consider this hotel again. There were several problems in the room: the TV hardly worked, the hot water was lukewarm at best, and the bathroom door wouldn't close. The shower curtain kept opening and letting water onto the floor. We used a towel to block it, but couldn't stop water from hitting the door's bottom hinge. We think this happened routinely and may explain why the bathroom door was difficult to open and close when we arrived. Outside, in the lobby, and in the halls, it reeked of weed and possibly other substances.

The bed was super comfortable, and I slept really well. The place was nice and clean, and it was very convenient for concerts at PNC pavilion. I enjoyed the stay, especially for the value, and would come back for our next concert. 🙂

We were able to get moved to another room quickly, and I appreciated that, but the rooms were a real disappointment. The first one had roaches all over the nightstand, headboard, and TV stand. In the second room, the smoke alarm kept going off and couldn't be silenced. The third smelled like someone had just smoked a cigarette, and both the second and third floors smelled like weed. I got a refund for the stay. I'm sad the hotel wasn't what we expected, because I wanted to say the service was great, but that wasn't my experience.
