Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte Airport

I picked this hotel for a good night's rest near the airport so I could avoid Charlotte traffic before my flight. Instead, from about 3 a.m. until sometime after 5, a machine scraped pavement outside and revved its engine between runs. I got no sleep. I asked two different front desk employees whether they could offer any kind of credit for the noise, but both said only a manager could help. Neither gave me a card or any way to reach the manager. I emailed her and heard nothing, then called back and was told she wasn't available and nobody else could speak for her. When I called reservations about the stay, they said my Honors number wasn't attached to it, even though it appeared in my confirmation email. Service deserves no stars.

There are several restaurants within a few miles, and the hotel has a decent restaurant of its own if you'd rather stay in. The staff were very helpful, especially Kresha, who's always ready to lend a hand.

Parking overnight costs extra, and you seem to pay a separate company. It was easy enough to handle by scanning the QR code in the lot. The hotel was nice, the room was very clean, and check-in was quick and efficient.

We paid almost $200 a night, then had to pay for parking too. That felt greedy, and I won't book here again. We brought my wife's dog because the hotel allows pets, which is the only positive thing I can say about the stay. I first gave it three stars for that, but changed it to two. Honestly, we might have spent less on a dog sitter. Nothing else about the experience was good. Please book somewhere else.
