Homewood Suites by Hilton Charlotte/SouthPark

The staff were top notch throughout our stay, from the front desk to housekeeping. We spent nine days here for the Pop Warner Nationals for Football and Cheer (12/5 -12/13), and we’d love it if Pop Warner paired us with the hotel again next year. It was our first time in Charlotte, though the weather wasn’t pleasant, with most days at 28-34F and 15-20mph winds. I arrived at 1am after traffic and road conditions delayed me, but the night staff were polite and got me into my room quickly. The lobby fireplace was lit, and there was a holiday smell in the halls that made me smile whenever I noticed it. Our clean room had a well lit desk, a comfortable King size bed with five or six soft pillows, a hot shower with good pressure, and a pull out love seat that was comfortable both ways. The kitchen cabinets had the basics for cooking, eating, and cleaning up. I used the laundry facilities and got change, soap, and dryer sheets at the desk. There was always plenty for breakfast, including fruit, cereal, yogurt, muffins, eggs, potatoes, different kinds of sausage, waffles, burrito and taco wraps, oatmeal, bread, and bagels. The area was kept up well, with refills and cleanups handled promptly. Some people have complained about parking prices, but the lot was clean, there were spaces available, and parking and getting into the hotel never took more than a couple of minutes.

The staff were pleasant, but I don’t think the hotel gets most of the details right. I based my rating on the value for the price, and my room was just okay. I booked a suite, but while it had a sofa bed, it didn’t seem big enough to count as one. Dinner service at the bar was very slow, and the food arrived kind of cold. The person who took my order apologized for the wait. My room key wouldn’t open the parking gate, and neither would the replacement they gave me. For three days, I had to press the green button on the display to get out and take a ticket each time to get in. It’s not the worst hotel I’ve stayed at.

We’ve stayed here often, and it’s our hotel of choice in Charlotte, NC. Melissa was friendly and helpful at check-in. But on Valentine’s morning, we found our vehicle’s back passenger window smashed and items stolen. Several other vehicles, mainly pickup trucks, had the same thing happen. The venue is clean and the staff are friendly, but breakfast quality has gone downhill a lot. The food is poor, with a consistent Mexican restaurant style palate, and even the oatmeal today was cold and nearly uncooked. We used to enjoy the included breakfast. We love this hotel, so please improve the security and food. I can’t stress enough that this is our go to place. We hope for safer stays and yummier breakfasts.

The location is perfect, with shopping centres, Wholefoods, Walgrens, and a lovely area to walk around just a few minutes away. I stayed for 14 nights and felt at home. The room temperature was just right, and the kitchen had all the utensils I needed. Breakfast each day was very good, with lots of healthy choices and freshly cooked hot food. The staff were attentive, courteous, and helpful. Anthony, Kurtis, and Rashad made my stay extra special with their time and kindness. I hope I can come back to enjoy autumn in Charlotte.
