Hyatt House Charlotte/Rea Farms

We had a wonderful four night stay. The property is fairly new, and the room felt clean and modern with comfortable beds and bedding. It was well appointed, and even without a suite or studio kitchenette, the mini fridge and microwave were handy. The free breakfast was especially good for the price, with plenty of protein and hot options. We also liked being able to charge our EV on site for free. The nearby Rea Farms development was great, and Harris Teeter was an easy walk for coffee from Starbucks. We’ll consider staying here again.

We chose the King Studio with Kitchen both times, and the kitchen had the essentials we needed to make a few meals. The corner couch was great for lounging, the bed was really comfy, and the room and hallways were clean and well maintained. I also liked the blackout curtain on a track, since light didn’t creep around the sides. The shower had good pressure, and the showerhead was mounted high enough for people over 6 feet. It’s good value for the area, quiet, and has free parking. We didn’t hear street noise either time, and I felt safe walking to and from the car even late at night. There are several restaurants and stores nearby.

A dog barked nonstop for over two hours, starting around 9:30 at night, and I had a horrible night. I called the front desk, and they said they’d try to reach the guest. I tried to sleep again, but the barking continued. After about 45 minutes, I called back because I still couldn’t rest. They said they’d called the guest but nobody answered. I finally contacted Hotels.com customer service through chat, and they helped by calling the front desk again. Shortly after that I heard someone enter the room, and the dog stopped barking. The whole thing made me so late for work the next morning.

My wife and I have often picked this hotel when she travels for work, and as a globalist member I used to consider it one of our favorite places to stay in Charlotte. But the quality has seemed to drop with every visit, which is disheartening. We’ve had cold showers, lumpy beds, and cleaning that missed details. It feels like small but important problems are being overlooked or hidden. Downstairs service has also become a real issue. More than once, I’ve called repeatedly for basic things like extra towels or pillows and waited hours without a response. We travel a lot, and it’s sad to see a once preferred hotel go downhill. Given how much we’ve spent there, having to take a cold shower is unacceptable. I hope these issues are addressed promptly.
