Set on 2 acres of beautifully landscaped English gardens, this Chatham B&B is housed in an historic sea captain’s estate that dates to 1839. A complimentary gourmet breakfast is served each morning.

We came back to Chatham this May after staying at the Captain’s House Inn in September a couple of years ago. That earlier visit probably helped make us want to return. We had booked two nights this time, then added a third. Chatham worked so well as a base for exploring the Cape, and we were happy to spend more time at the inn too. Most rooms have a verandah overlooking the gardens, and it was so peaceful out there that we thought about just staying in for a whole day. The inn has a comfortable mix of B&B warmth and hotel comforts, with lovely grounds and rooms that feel like somewhere you can settle in. Everything was spotless and finished to a high standard. The bathrooms were especially beautiful, and the shower tilework was almost art. Breakfast was freshly made each morning, with a good range of options. It felt substantial without becoming repetitive. We were genuinely excited to come back, and we'd have gladly stayed another night.

Even in the off season, this was a fantastic place to stay. I only wish we could've seen the plants in bloom. Everything was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed having the wine and cheese tray in our room to wind down. Breakfast was good, too. We were close to town and the fish pier. Rachel was our caretaker while we were there. Since it was off season, she did everything, and she was very friendly and took great care of us.

This was our fourth visit, and I'm already looking forward to the next one. We love rooms with character, especially The Hideaway and Hiram Harding, our favourites. The rooms are beautiful and clean, breakfast is always delicious, and the staff are friendly.

The freshly baked treats they put out each day were such a nice touch, and we loved the port and sherry every night. The grounds are gorgeous, and it was all quiet and peaceful. We stayed in Hannah Rebekah, a beautiful, lovely room. Breakfast each morning was stellar, and the whole staff made our Cape Cod stay feel so welcoming. Such a charming place. We highly recommend it and will be back!

We had a wonderful time in our suite at the Captain’s House Inn and loved both the room and the shared spaces. The staff were so kind. We also held a small private elopement ceremony in the sunroom they use for breakfast and tea. We couldn't have asked for a better place or people.
