Chatham Tides

The rooms are old, though the location is great. What really upset us was the woman at the service desk. She was the rudest, most insulting person we’ve dealt with in customer service, and she was so aggressive that we worried about our safety. We wrote to management twice several weeks after the trip and never heard back.

Even in November, this was a lovely place. You can hear the surf from inside, and it’s easy to step out for a brisk sunrise walk on the beach. The water is so close you could almost tumble out of bed into it. Just wonderful.

We wanted somewhere dog friendly with easy beach access, and Chatham Tides turned out to be a great fit. The room had all we needed, with plenty of space, good AC, and a quiet feel. Other guests were friendly, and we had no problems during our stay. There were beach chairs to borrow, bikes, and Adirondack chairs on the beach. The access itself was ideal, and it’s a family-friendly spot too. We’d expected little beyond a nice beach, but the place exceeded that. Looking forward to coming back.

After reading other reviews, it seems the AC problem may have been going on for a while. We should’ve taken the refund and left, but finding another room over 4th of July weekend was difficult. Instead, we spent a sweltering, sleepless night in an ocean-view room that cost just over $800 for one night after taxes and fees. The AC didn’t work at all on a humid July day. Maintenance came by but couldn’t fix it. I called the front desk twice to ask for a manager about partial compensation, and nobody followed up. Since checkout, management has been silent. At this price, I expected basic comfort and a timely response. I’d look elsewhere on the Lower Cape until they can ensure working amenities and responsive service.
