BUTLER HOUSE at The Cherry Creek Inn

The old Victorian home was beautiful, and the peaceful feeling started as we walked toward our room. The building was pristine, the linens were clean, the food was fresh, and it was wonderfully quiet. We woke up feeling refreshed, just what we needed. We were in Erie without luck finding a place to stay for our 11th anniversary, so when the owner called and texted her availability, my husband, daughter, and I decided to try a bed and breakfast and booked the Victoria room. The host met us outside late at night and offered to help with our things. She took our temperatures at the door because of the COVID rules and showed us to our room. We didn’t get to go outside, though what we could see in the dark looked nice. The host was very kind and hospitable. I’d recommend this place.

The quiet, somewhat secluded setting made this a nice break from the outside world. The Victorian-style property is beautiful, and management was friendly and accommodating. It’s just minutes from Cockaigne ski resort and a few wineries, with the Amish trail nearby too. I’d definitely stay here again.

A fantastic dinner at the Mustard Seed Restaurant is only ten minutes away, and afterward we enjoy gathering on the back patio and spending time together. Our family group meets at the Inn every summer, and we love the peaceful feel and comfortable, warm setting. Breakfast is always filling and delicious. Saying goodbye is hard, but we know we’ll be back.

We’d booked and paid for the Butler House ten months ahead for a family reunion, but a week before check-in we called to ask about amenities and found out the Inn was closed for renovations. Nobody had told us. We would have arrived with nowhere to stay for the wedding we were attending. When we messaged the property, they didn’t apologize and only said, “we thought we had notified everyone that we were closed for renovations!” VRBO quickly helped us find somewhere else, which kept our long-awaited reunion from turning into a disaster. If you’re thinking of booking here, make sure you have a backup plan.
