We could walk everywhere from this bed-and-bar, and the owners were so welcoming when we met them. Our suite was lovely, with a balcony, though getting up to the third floor meant tackling quite a few steps. We enjoyed the drinks and entertainment at the Rummur Lounge in the rear yard. There’s no breakfast, but we got vouchers for Cafe on the Bay across the street. Definitely recommend staying here!

The Inn has plenty of character and a lovely Rum Garden out back, with Adirondack chairs, a bar, and entertainment. It’s close to the canal and an easy walk to the Chesapeak Inn, other restaurants, and shops. Our room was clean, though fairly limited, and the old-fashioned feel may not suit anyone wanting modern features or lots of amenities. The coffee shop across the street offers a voucher for a coffee and breakfast sandwich. I would’ve liked a Keurig with pods and cups downstairs, plus a small fridge with bottled water and sodas. Parking at the Inn is limited, and street parking depends on the time of day and how busy town is.

The location was great, but I can’t recommend this place. Neither of the two rooms we booked had a bathroom in acceptable shape: both were equally bad, with peeling paint, mold, and a tub without flat surfaces. The AC unit looked like it was from 1998 and badly needed more refrigerant, so the room never cooled down. On weekends there’s live music, and the musician puts a speaker in the hallway connecting the bedrooms. We couldn’t sleep until 10:00pm.

We really enjoyed our short stay in this historic town on the Chesapeake. The little inn is beautiful, with comfortable, quaint rooms and updated bathrooms. The indoor and outdoor entertainment was great, and so were the food and drinks.

We loved the room’s quirky charm, from the old door high on the wall where a staircase used to be to the squeaky wood floors. The inn is a winner, and the location can’t be beat: restaurants, shops, the C&D Canal Museum, and the harbor are all an easy walk. We’d absolutely come back, though probably in a different room and when the lounge is open. It looked really cute through the windows, but it wasn’t open during our stay. We chose the Harbor View because it has a private entrance and just a few steps up to the porch, so we wouldn’t have to carry luggage upstairs. There’s no entrance to the main inn from the room, and the main floor lounge doesn’t open until 4 p.m. We had chairs outside to look at the water, plus a side porch with a counter and tall bar chairs. Inside, antiques, soft luxurious towels, and an exceptional bathroom made it feel welcoming and beautifully decorated. Everything was squeaky clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, with a goose feather topper and high quality linens. The room was mostly quiet once people settled in, but it’s near the outdoor bar area, which could get loud during lounge season. The room also connects to the kitchen. Around 9 p.m., employees came in, and while one person worked, another talked away on speakerphone. It sounded like they were in our room. They left within 30 minutes, though early morning hours could be disruptive. For reading, bring a portable light: there are just two small tabletop lamps, one beside one side of the bed and one in an alcove, and I couldn’t read in the antique chair without one. Bring a sleep mask too if light bothers you, since outdoor lighting shines through the blinds. No one can see into the room, but light does filter in. There’s a large closet with what look like kitchen cupboards on one wall and plenty of room to hang clothes. A TV is provided, but we didn’t use it. The remote was MIA, so we watched TV on our laptop. We found the remote under the bed the next morning after dropping something. Breakfast is complimentary at the adorable cafe across the street, with a voucher for a breakfast sandwich and coffee for each person in the room. The food was excellent. Coffee drinkers may want to revisit the cafe, since there’s no coffee maker in the room.
