Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chesapeake Suffolk

We slept well: the rooms were quiet, with no traffic or industrial noise. The hotel is well staffed, and the rooms are what you’d expect for this kind of place. Breakfast was a step above most hotels in this class, with eggs, bacon, cereal, muffins, and bagels. The coffee was good, though not stellar. There’s a spacious indoor dining area, plus outdoor seating for eight. In the perfect October weather, those outside tables were especially nice.

The rooms are fine for a one-night stay, and the hallway lighting is nice. But there were no more than three body towels, and the guest laundry was out of order, with the washing machine missing its door.

The staff were friendly and breakfast was decent, and the location worked well for my needs. Parking was okay, and the building’s side entrances felt safe and convenient despite its long layout. The room itself was sparse, and the bathroom needs renovating. The building overall could use an update.

Orchid and the rest of the staff were welcoming and accommodating with us and our infant. The beds were very comfortable, and the free breakfast was fine. The bathroom could use an update, but everything was okay. A good place to call home for a night or two, with nothing too much or too little.
