Riley's Railhouse Bed & Breakfast

We stayed in Box Car 2 and loved it. The owners were delightful and welcoming, and the homemade breakfast in the morning was generous and delicious. Everything about the building feels carefully considered, from its preservation to the decor and warm, cozy atmosphere. We had fun listening to trains go by, too. Downtown is walkable, with everything you need and businesses run by locals. It’s a real gem for a weekend away from Chicago.

The breakfast was amazing, so good. We stayed in the Upper Birth room while visiting Dynes National park, and it was really cozy. Trains go by frequently and loudly, but since you’re staying in a train station, that’s to be expected.

Richard and Anne made us feel like family, and we won’t forget them. We chose their BnB for the railroad theme and its closeness to Indiana Dunes National and State Parks, for the first night of our road trip. We joked that they spoiled the rest of the trip because they treated us so kindly and we enjoyed the stay so much. The decor and location are lovely even if you’re not a railfan. Trains passing at night were relaxing to us, and earplugs are there if you think the noise might bother you. Chesterton is a charming town to explore, too. Thanks for such a wonderful stay!

The rooms are cozy and decorated with cute train memorabilia, and I love sitting on the covered porch to watch the trains. The crossing is loud since it's so close, but it doesn't bother us.
