Cambria Hotel Chicago Loop - Theatre District

The manager agreed to refund two nights after our company’s booking agency contacted the hotel, but wouldn’t refund the night we checked in. She also declined our request to inspect the room herself. Her refusal to look into the problem or offer a meaningful resolution was disappointing and didn’t match the service I’d expect from this brand. I’m in Chicago for work, and the room at Cambria Hotel was not suitable to stay in. We found hair balls on the floor, hair and stains on the bed, and visible dust and staining on the bed frame. The property also looked poorly maintained when we arrived. We had planned to stay one night since we’d already checked in, but found more hair and stains around the room and decided to leave. Cleanliness and responsive service are basic expectations, and neither was met. Cambria and Choice Hotels won’t be my preferred options again. I hope senior leadership reviews cases like this, since business travelers need to be able to rely on the standards a hotel promises.

The people working on March 2 around 3 pm were wonderful. The overnight worker had such a lovely spirit, and checkout on the 3rd went just as well. Everyone was great, and the location is so convenient, with tons of good places within walking distance. I’m definitely planning to make this my regular Chicago hotel.

I really appreciated Ms. Latrice. When housekeeping missed the cleaning I’d requested for Saturday, as the desk clerk had suggested at check-in, she got me extra fresh towels. She also helped my niece with an issue that day. She was a lifesaver during my stay and went above and beyond. We got a room at the last minute early in the morning, and it worked well for me and my disabled son. The rooms were lovely and accommodating. When we found there was no hot water in the sink, I told Ms. Latrice, the Operational Supervisor, and she had Maintenance there in what felt like 2.2 seconds. The maintenance man fixed it quickly. My only issue was housekeeping not showing up for the requested cleaning.

The location was good, around a 5-7 minute drive from most attractions and restaurants. The employees were very nice, too. But even the largest room was very small, and there’s only one suite, so upgrading wasn’t an option. The bed wasn’t great, there’s no pool, and parking is $50 a day. Be ready for that extra cost, or park nearby and walk back.
