Club Quarters Hotel Wacker at Michigan, Chicago

For tourists, the location is hard to beat. The Bean is a ten-minute walk, the 146 line is right across the street for getting to museums, and North Grant parking garage is five minutes away. We liked the river and street views and the beautiful historic-looking lobby. Our room was small but made good use of the space. The TV had a 1080p high-definition signal, and there was a guest supply closet for forgotten essentials. Each floor also had water refill stations. Coffee drinkers can use the little business lounge on the second floor. We brought our son, and it was kid-friendly enough. The king bed is two twins pushed together, but we slept fine. Good value for the price, and we’d stay again and recommend it.

The staff made our seven-night stay memorable. Everyone we met was warm and attentive, and we felt well looked after. At check-in, a very friendly gentleman surprised us with a river-view room and a free upgrade. I’d requested a river view months earlier, then completely forgotten about it, so that was a wonderful start. The room was comfortable and felt like a home away from home, with a kitchenette and stunning views of the Chicago River. Waking up to that view each morning was special. We also made good use of the second-floor coffee bar and appreciated the complimentary water stations around the hotel. The beautiful lobby and old-school elevators gave the place real character. For exploring downtown, the location is hard to beat. Millennium Park, the Sears Tower, which we absolutely refuse to call Willis Tower, and the Magnificent Mile are all an easy walk away. We had an incredible stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book again if we return to Chicago, which seems likely since we’ve fallen in love with the city.

The skyline view was amazing, aside from the Trump name in it. I got a hot shower and really comfortable bedding, and everything was clean with great facilities. The location was awesome, and the price didn’t cost me my firstborn. Just what I wanted for a multi-day stay in Chicago.

The staff were so friendly, and even though the room was petite, it felt cozy. The lounge was really nice, with a free cappuccino and coffee machine, plus meeting rooms, a compact but complete gym, and free laundry. In the low season, the price for this location and all those amenities is hard to beat. I wanted to stay longer. I know this sounds like an ad, but the vibe really was that positive.
