Crowne Plaza Chicago West Loop by IHG

I liked this hotel so much, especially having the balcony option, that I've booked it again for February. The rooms, amenities, and location were all great. Dining could be better: the deli had limited choices and closed a bit early. Still, that's not enough to keep me away.

For the last two nights and mornings, I've woken up to the smell of weed, like someone was smoking up their room. I don't want my daughter having to smell that. I wanted to give the hotel five stars, and it's in a great spot for downtown and bar hopping. I hope they can resolve this.

I only stayed one quick night, and the staff were great from the start. The front desk greeted me, paused what they were doing, checked me in quickly, and explained the amenities so I could get some sleep. The room itself needs work. The headboard was so worn and gross that it needs replacing, not just cleaning. I didn't want other people's hair oils touching my hair, so even though I was too tired to deal with it that night, I slept across the bed. It made me wonder how clean the rest of the room was. This isn't a cheap place, and that furniture should be maintained. It was my first stay here and will be my last.

The rooms were simple but comfortable, and the food was a strong point. Breakfast was worth adding, with a good range of hot and cold options, and the restaurant was great for other meals too. There was also plenty within walking distance, including Greek food, Whole Foods, several markets, and what I thought was the best pizza ever at Nancy's Pizza. My only real issue was the bathroom barn door and the lack of a fan. Otherwise, I had a very nice stay at the Crown Plaza West Loop in Chicago and would come back.
