Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago

Anna at the front desk was wonderful, knew the hotel and Chicago well, and made us feel at home even in the cold weather. The views were spectacular, the rooms very clean, and the location just right. We’ll be back to this beautiful city.

My birthday weekend here turned into a terrible stay, and we checked out a day early. Afterward I saw a random $115 charge. They said someone was still in the room the next morning, and that it was a man taking a shower. It was just me and my girlfriend staying there. They told me they had done a “lock investigation,” but that doesn’t prove who was in the room. There are no cameras on the hotel floors, which leaves us worried that a stranger could get into the room. I questioned how safe and secure the hotel was, but they refused to refund me after I explained I had no idea who the man was and didn’t know him. They seemed more interested in keeping the $115 than listening to me as a paying guest who had no idea why a random man would be in our room the next morning.

For a short stay, this is a reasonable choice. The room was clean, though somewhat dated, and the service was acceptable. I found the location convenient, with good restaurants nearby, so getting around the area was easy. My stay at this 5-star hotel in Chicago’s Cwas decent overall.

The blonde woman at reception kept a smile on her face and greeted everyone coming into the lobby. Her communication was quick and efficient, but still truly kind, and she stayed upbeat all night. I was in and out constantly and saw her do it each time. I was thinking, damn, I couldn’t keep that up all day. Kudos to her.
