My room had a lovely view of the park across the street, and the bathroom was nicely tiled with a glass walk-in shower. It was clean, had no odd smells, and was larger than I expected in an older building. The bed was very plush and soft, more than I personally prefer, though some people like that. The hotel was quiet overnight. I’d booked through reserved athlete housing for a local race, so it may be that the other runners on my floor also turned in early. The interior is spacious, lovely, and beautifully decorated, and seems to have been renovated recently. Most of the front desk staff were attentive and kind, and I appreciated the complimentary water at check-in. The hotel is close to the West Side in a nice area with parks and safe neighborhoods. It was reasonably priced and good value for the amenities I needed. I loved staying here and would return if I’m back on Chicago’s West Side.

Eliseo Lara and Cesar Ramirez kept the breakfast food replenished and the serving area and tables clean, even with lots of people coming through. Breakfast is served 7-10 am on weekends. Our room had fresh linens on the made bed, plus a surprisingly roomy bathroom with a walk-in shower. The floors were vinyl plank, with tile in the bathroom. There’s a mini fridge without freezer space, but no microwave. Parking is behind the hotel. You need a room key or someone to buzz you in at the doors, so if you’re parking there, call the desk before getting out of your car for check-in.

At breakfast, Gabriela Torres and Eliseo Lara made my mornings at the Hyatt more enjoyable. The food was delicious, and the staff there were great. Everyone at the front desk was welcoming and kind, too, especially Richie and Brian. I truly enjoyed staying at this hotel. Highly recommended, and many thanks!

The king suite was huge, with a kitchen and an L-shaped couch set apart from the bedroom by a massive TV. My windows looked out toward the United Center, and the hotel is just across a small open park from the Blue Line. Inside, it looked brand new, and breakfast in the morning was solid and free. I was able to get some a few minutes early to catch my train. Even though it’s near several hospitals and 290, noise wasn’t a problem. The staff were extremely friendly when I checked in and out. I paid $100 on a Bulls game night for this hidden gem, easily the best room for the price I’ve had in Chicago in years. I only stayed one night, but I’ll come back.

The biggest headache was billing. I tried to pay cash at check-in, but they wouldn’t accept it. They asked for a card for the security deposit, and I explained I didn’t want to use that card for the room payment. My sister was paying with her card and was busy getting the parking pass for the car when they asked for a card. Later I found a parking charge on my card. At checkout, I was told my card had already been charged, then the woman said they’d charge my sister’s card instead, which they did. Now both of us have been charged, and part of my security deposit still hasn’t come back. We’ve both called, but it’s nearly impossible to reach anyone about billing because the “voicemail” box is full every time. The hotel itself is very nice, with clean, well-kept rooms, a super comfortable bed, and a great included breakfast. Parking is the weak spot: it’s a random lot without any security, and can feel a little questionable.
