Rodeway Inn Chicago North Shore - Lincolnwood

This place is cheap and gives you what you need. The staff were so sweet. Checkout took a little longer than I'd like, but for the price, it really wasn't bad. Some people want a five-star hotel without paying for one. Thanks to the staff, you seem like good people.

I stayed two nights for concerts. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and updated, and the place seemed safe, though I did hear gunfire the first night. Check-in took a while. There was just one tiny shampoo bottle and a bar of soap, and no hairdryer. The shower kept dripping, and someone had put a paper cup on the shower floor to stop water splashing onto the bathroom floor.

The room did look clean, but nearly everything else made this the worst cheap room I've stayed in. The mattress had a crater about the size of a watermelon, and I woke up with back pain. There were ceiling cracks over two feet long, and two chunks were missing from different spots in the cheap wood floor. The photos showed carpet, but there wasn't any. The bathroom door had swollen so badly it took force to close. Even after close to 20 hours without using the shower or wetting the bathroom floor, opening and closing the door left a streak of water on the floor. I wouldn't be surprised if there was mold in the door. The one positive, that the room appeared clean, was outweighed by all the other problems.

I lost track of time while showering and checked out 30 minutes late. The motel kept my $60 cash deposit over it. I've never had another motel keep a deposit for something so minor. The staff were rude and unfair. Don't stay here.
