Sonder — The Plymouth

The water stopped working, and then started pouring through the ceiling, forcing us to evacuate early in the morning. Before that, the AC wasn't working either. They provided one portable unit for the whole apartment, but it only made a loud noise and didn't cool anything. We made many calls and kept being told maintenance would come. They refused to refund us. Worst hotel experience. I'll never stay at a Sonder property again.

The place had a strange homeless shelter vibe that some people might enjoy, but it's nothing like a hostel I wanted to stay in. There were blood stains literally on the floor, and I saw hairs in the bed. Every piece of furniture looked like it came from Goodwill, and the rooms were so small you couldn't open a door without hitting furniture. Yes, the blood stains were on the floor. At night, the security guard was the only person there, but didn't acknowledge me as I walked past. He was busy texting. We called for a blanket and towels since the room wasn't stocked, and were told to wait until morning. When they did come, we got a bed sheet and a floor mat. Some people may want a luxurious escape on vacation, but this is not that.

At least we had somewhere to sleep, I guess. The elevator was out of service, there were holes and patches in the walls, the dishwasher was falling apart from the sink area, and the A/C was broken on days over 80 degrees. We texted and called the number they gave us and got no response. Surprisingly, cold showers weren't even an issue.

The AC in my room never worked, and I sweated through two miserable nights in what felt like a sauna. I couldn't sleep or work comfortably and felt completely abandoned as a paying guest. They told me to make do with a BOX FAN or find somewhere else to stay on my own. This happened after multiple attempts to reach the front desk and customer service, but no one was available on-site to address a basic necessity. Their automated check-in process became a nightmare once I needed human help for a legitimate problem. The lack of accountability and customer service was astounding for a property associated with the Marriott name. This wasn't a minor inconvenience, it was a complete failure of hospitality standards. I had a thoroughly disappointing two-night stay, among the worst hotel experiences I've had.
