Stay Alfred on State Street

This was one of the worst customer experiences I've had. My family and I arrived two hours after our guaranteed check-in time, but the cleaning staff hadn't even started on our room. We couldn't check in until four hours after the guaranteed time. Once inside, there were no room keys available, though there were supposed to be two. Building management gave us a spare, which we had to leave behind every time we left the building. The Stay Alfred website says the apartments have fully stocked kitchens, but ours had just one pot. We contacted Stay Alfred's management team four times over two days to try to resolve things and never heard back. One man who answered the phone simply hung up instead of transferring us to guest services. Building management told us this kind of situation wasn't unusual for Stay Alfred guests, and that the Stay Alfred team often didn't follow up when problems came up. If you expect any kind of customer satisfaction, I highly recommend staying as far away as possible from Stay Alfred.

We had a great time, and the place was clean with really comfy beds. The amenities were great, and we used them all. The jewels next door was a delight, too. The only downside was that one bathroom toilet wouldn't flush, so we had to make do. They said they'd send someone within 24 hours, but nobody showed.

The place and location were great. My only complaint was that there was no WiFi, or at least the front desk didn't know how to access it.

A great place to stay in Chicago, right in a hot spot for visiting the city. Recommended 100%.
