The hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location, but it’s the people who made it feel like home. I stayed here every week for two months while traveling to Chicago for work, and it’s easily my favorite hotel ever. After nearly three years of weekly travel, I don’t say that lightly. The front desk and valet teams are exceptional. Armando, Jose, and Andrew consistently went above and beyond. They greeted me by name, asked how my week was going, and helped make the chaos of work travel feel manageable. It’s rare to find people who are both professional and so genuinely kind. Their warmth, consistency, and attention to detail really set this place apart. I recommend it to everyone I know visiting Chicago!

The view from the Up Bar is hard to beat, and we loved our stay. The rooms are tastefully laid out and decorated, and the staff were consistently polite and helpful. I also liked seeing the original linen blueprints displayed along the corridors. The building itself is a beautiful 1929 Art Deco landmark with stunning views. One small thing: early-morning staff conversations outside guest rooms can carry. Still, we had a restful, lovely stay and will be back.

Such a fun neighborhood, and the roof has the best view of the city. This was one of the nicest surprises I’ve had in a long time: great service, lovely views, and a comfortable setup for a work trip. The bathroom had a great layout and view, and the modern TV was easy to use.

We often recommend The Robey to clients coming to Chicago. Its design is beautiful, with thoughtful touches, and the team always makes guests feel welcome. The rooms, lounge areas, and neighborhood have plenty of character, and the service is consistently warm and personal. It’s a great fit for production teams, creatives, or anyone wanting a stay with a distinct Chicago feel.

Bucktown and Wicker Park make a much more interesting place to stay, with plenty of good restaurants, bars, and shops, and the area stays lively after 6 pm, unlike the Loop. The Robey is steps from the Blue Line, which gives easy, reliable access to O'Hare and downtown. I find the train much more predictable than a rideshare stuck in Kennedy traffic when you’re trying to catch your flight. The Robey occupies a beautifully renovated 1929 Art Deco building. It has modern comforts while respecting the original architecture. The room design is restrained, clean, and linear, with details like real marble tables, terrazzo tile, push-button switches, and Le Labo toiletries. They used to give you metal keys, though I’ve heard they’re switching to key cards, sadly. Don’t miss a drink at the rooftop bar for the skyline views. The staff are friendly and attentive, and because it’s not a large hotel, they remember you, often by name. I only visit Chicago a few times a year, and they recognize me each time. Stop staying in the Loop and stay at The Robey in Bucktown.
