Tremont Hotel by SB at Chicago Magnificent Mile

The breakfast was good, with scrambled eggs, hash browns, yogurt, bagels, and sweet rolls, though I expected more protein options like ham, bacon, or sausage. I liked the lobby and the amenities, and the location is very central. The third-floor gym had nice equipment. Our room was fine, but could use some updating, and the shower faucet leaked. Service was professional, if a little impersonal. Valet parking costs $67 a night, which feels steep, though it’s in line with other places and includes coming and going.

The room was clean enough, the staff were friendly, and the hotel is in a good area. Still, I wouldn't stay again for the price. The room looked badly dated, with a cracked sink that had pieces missing. The toilet made loud noises every few minutes and only flushed if you held the button down for about 30 seconds. The elevator setup was frustrating too: two cars side by side, but they run separately and kept stopping on floors where nobody was waiting. The stay was just OK.

The staff were really friendly, and the hotel has a pleasant sitting area on the first floor that connects to a great steakhouse. There’s also a small gym upstairs on the third floor. It’s an easy base for exploring Chicago, with good shopping and restaurants nearby. The rooms are a decent size and have what you need, including a bed that works well for sitting up to get some work done. The bathrooms feel very dated, though, and I wasn’t keen on the bath products. I could hear people talking in the hall and fire trucks outside.

The room was clean, but I wouldn't pay this much to stay here again. It was tiny, just wide enough for the king bed and a nightstand on each side. The lighting was so dim that putting on makeup was a struggle. The low toilet tilts backward, and there isn't enough room to sit on it properly. The sink and mirror area is only big enough for one person. The hallway smelled like a nursing home cafeteria until this morning, when it started smelling like sewage.
