Comfort Suites Chincoteague Island Bayfront Resort

The beds were so comfortable, and after a long day our clean, roomy, surprisingly quiet room was a great place to unwind. Breakfast was delicious too. Check-in was quick, and the front desk team greeted us warmly. Comfort Suites Chincoteague covered everything we wanted from a good stay. Thanks!

The pool and room were both marvelous, and the front desk clerks were professional and pleasant. They even called my mother and me in our room to check on us, then helped locate an open store on Thanksgiving so I could get her a fresh bottle of Pepsi. She needed a replacement for the one that had been sitting in her 2025 Ford Escape Active for who knows how long, Celine Dion knows. The only small gripe was the low shower pressure in room 321. Otherwise, a pleasant stay at this Comfort Suites.

The island was wonderful, and the views were spectacular. I hadn't realized before arriving that there was a Hampton Inn beside the Comfort Suites with the same great views. Apparently that Hampton Inn ranks second highest among Hampton properties in the United States. I've been a Diamond member with Hilton for years because I travel for work, and next time I visit Chincoteague I may try the Hampton Inn instead. I was disappointed with the Elite-level treatment here. I'm a Diamond member and had stayed 80 nights at Choice Hotels so far this year, but nobody greeted me as a Diamond or Elite member or offered water or a snack. At checkout I heard staff welcome another Diamond guest, offer a room upgrade, and ask if he wanted water. I also had to pay for early check-in and late checkout, even though I understood these as Diamond benefits and members spend the most at Choice Hotels. I came on vacation hoping to relax in the hot tub. One night there were girls under 10 in it with their parents watching. I waited around 45 minutes, but they didn't leave, so I went back to my room after telling the front desk. The staff member said a wall poster prohibited children in the hot tub. I considered asking why she hadn't told them that, since enforcing the rules is her job, but I didn't want to be rude or add stress to my vacation. The next day, a front desk supervisor said the manager would review the camera footage and presumably address it. But the children were in the hot tub again that night and on a couple of later nights too, so I gave up using it. It didn't feel appropriate for me, a single adult man, to be in a hot tub with girls under 10. The resort shouldn't put guests in that situation, especially when it's against the rules.

The bay view and sunsets were fantastic, and this was the nicest Comfort Inn I've stayed in. Everything was up to date and very clean. Breakfast ran until 11:00 a.m., which I appreciated because many hotels stop around 9 or 9:30, too early for people who like sleeping in on a getaway. It's also conveniently located, and I'd highly recommend it.
