Days Inn Christiansburg

The breakfast was just coffee, juice, and one kind of packaged muffin. I was disappointed and would pay more for a better place next time. The AC also took over five hours to make the room comfortable. The front desk person was friendly and got me a room, but it didn't meet Days Inn brand expectations. The bathroom light was out, the curtains were falling down, and there was no showerhead. They apologized and promptly moved me. The replacement room smelled of smoke and had carpet and mattress stains, a clogged sink, and a broken dresser. Since I arrived late at night, I stayed anyway.

I've stayed here before, and it wasn't this bad then. Several rooms are being refurbished, but the whole place needs to be demolished and started over. The rooms are small, the bathroom had mildew and hadn't been cleaned behind the door, and the hot-water handle was broken off. Outside, the sidewalks were in terrible shape. The TV didn't work, and the key card caused repeated problems. When I tried to check out, the desk clerk was asleep.

The beds were comfortable, but the sheets had holes or black stains, so I tried to keep as little of myself covered as possible. Nothing looked clean. There was staining and hair all over the shower, and I wore sandals in it. Even though we had a non-smoker room, it sometimes smelled of smoke. The carpet smelled dirty too. I'd steer clear, there's nothing redeeming about this place.

We booked three nights but left right away after finding a bug in the bed. The maid service and front desk knew, but nobody offered to do anything to improve the stay. I wouldn't have stayed regardless. On the drive home, I worried we'd brought bugs back with us, and I'll be calling the health department. Stay away. There was already a huge bug on the door when we arrived, but since it looked like a motel, we weren't too concerned. Then the room smelled musty and moldy, wallpaper was peeling, one bed wasn't made, and some lights didn't work. The dresser was missing drawers. I wasn't even sure the room had been cleaned. In the middle of the night I got up to use the bathroom and saw bugs crawling all over the sink. I've never been so disgusted by a hotel.
