Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Christiansburg by IHG

We were driving from New Jersey to South Carolina, and when it got late we needed somewhere to sleep for a few hours. I found this hotel through my IHG account. It’s convenient to I 81 with easy access, and the room was nice and clean, with a huge shower and plenty of light. The king bed was very comfortable. If you have time, don’t skip breakfast: there’s a good range of food for different tastes and dietary needs. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

We’ve stayed here twice because it isn’t pet friendly, which matters to me because I have severe allergies and can’t be near animals. The room was large and modern, seemed clean, and had a comfortable bed and good lighting. But Tina at check-in was unfriendly to the point of being rude. The pool was so cloudy we wouldn’t use it, the shower had very little water pressure, and there was no coffee maker in the room.

The room was clean, the beds were soft, and the towels were nicely folded. Breakfast had good options, the pool area looked nice, and there was plenty of parking. I also liked the town, which felt quaint and friendly. Kroger is about 10 minutes away, and although there don’t seem to be many food options close to the hotel, downtown has plenty. The hotel is near interstate 81, across from a nice church. We only stayed one night, but the area seemed pleasant. The layout was especially convenient. The lobby and pool are separate from the rooms, connected by a hallway, but there’s also an automatic door by the room building. You scan your card to enter from outside, and it opens as you approach from inside. That means you can take the elevator to the sliding door and head straight to the parking lot from your room instead of walking back through the lobby and around the hotel. I’ve never seen that setup before, and thought it worked really well.

The pool and fitness room were clean, and the hotel was quiet. Staff were friendly, including the housekeepers who greeted us with a smile and good morning. Krystal at the front desk was efficient and pleasant. The bathroom had high quality products, all DOVE pumps. My only complaint is that there are no vending machines, though you can buy drinks at the desk.
