Budget Inn - Syracuse Airport

The room was spotless, right down to the bathroom fan, which is a detail I've seen left filthy at plenty of other hotels. The beds were made neatly and comfortable enough, with lots of pillows. Even the outside looks cared for and homey. I had worried because the desk closes at 11:30 pm and we were arriving much later, so I called ahead. The woman who answered explained what to do and said check-in would be fine. She was right, even with our 1 am arrival. It's hard to find a well-kept budget hotel, and this one really raised the bar. Nice work.

We booked three days based on the 4.1 rating, but it felt like staying in a dump. The rooms smelled, and there were drug deals happening in the parking lot. Once they had our money, customer service was gone. They wouldn't let us cancel or refund us, and didn't even consider trying to find a solution when I complained. I'd rather sleep in my car. Now I understand why they won't refund people. Very bad.

The staff were polite and helpful when we arrived at 3 AM. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had good amenities. We were here for one night during a long road trip, and I'd stay here again.

There's a reason this place has a two-star rating. The people running it seem lazy and don't clean. Around midnight there's a big homeless crowd hanging around, with drugs and yelling likely to be going on. Be aware.
