Hilton Garden Inn Cincinnati Midtown

The rooms were nice and most of the people were really nice too. They handled a few issues well, but at checkout I found an incorrect charge for food, even though I’d presented vouchers. I’d expected it might happen, so I took a picture as proof. The woman said the manager would be there Monday, but I had to check out that day. She called me an hour later and corrected the charge. I’d rate the stay four stars, taking one off for the frustration at checkout.

The hotel was quiet and in a decent location, though the parking lot is small. There’s a parking garage available. Our room on the 5th floor was pretty clean, but there was a sewage smell as soon as we walked in, which was obviously unpleasant.

I couldn’t set the temperature myself in my room. I had to ask the desk to adjust the thermostat, and even after asking several times at night, nothing got done. It was absolutely freezing the whole time I was there.

The one person who tried to help was the male front desk worker on Sunday, but even his efforts didn’t fix everything. This was one of my worst hotel experiences, and most of the staff seemed not to care. I wouldn’t go back if you want to feel safe and clean in your room. Because of digital key and check-in problems, we couldn’t get into our room until late at night. It was filthy: nearly a dozen someone else’s body hairs on the shower walls, a dirty shower floor, black stains in the sink, hair on the towels, and brown spots on the carpet and sheets. We tried the chat with no answer and called the front desk multiple times. A new employee had to call a manager. Alisa finally responded and said nothing could be done except refund us so we could find another hotel. This was at midnight on a holiday weekend. She treated us horribly, then eventually brought new sheets so we could at least feel safe sleeping. The next morning, another front desk man promised the head of housekeeping would personally clean and bleach the room. When we returned that evening, the toilet, shower floor, sink, and carpet spots were still dirty. It was a little cleaner, but still wildly unacceptable. We couldn’t get help after that either. At checkout the next morning, a female desk worker refused to let us speak to a manager, saying the manager was doing inventory. She was rude and wouldn’t get her superior. She did give us a discount, but only for the cheaper night, not the more expensive one when the worst problems happened. There was no getting anywhere with her.
