Julie was so welcoming and made us feel like family, with that old-fashioned kind of hospitality. The cabin itself was roomy, cozy, and decorated beautifully. It’s a great base on the west coast of the Kenai, with easy access to the whole peninsula.

We loved the quieter setting and spent time watching eagles and sunsets over the volcanoes and mountains across the inlet. Clam Gulch State Recreation Area is only a couple of miles away, and walking the beach at low tide was a highlight. The location worked well for our larger group, right between Soldotna and Homer. Poppy Cabin fit everyone comfortably and had everything we needed.

The cabins are clean, comfortable, quiet, and stocked with what you need, and the price felt like good value. Chuck, the owner, is a great guy with plenty of stories and local knowledge. From the bluff you look out over Cook Inlet, and on a clear day you can see Redoubt Volcano (~10k feet) on the west side. I came across this place by chance, but I’ll be back. I’d recommend it to anyone.

I’ve been coming here with our group for five years, and this was my second stay. The cabins are always clean and welcoming, with kitchens that have everything in them. The location is handy for fishing in different spots, about 20 minutes from Soldotna and an hour from Homer. I haven’t found another place around here this beautiful.

Chuck and Julie are great to work with, and this was our second visit. The place is peaceful and quiet, but also convenient, and stocked with everything you need to cook. Having a washer and dryer meant we didn’t need to pack as much. We’ll be back!
