Hilton Garden Inn Clarksburg Bridgeport

The bartender was super nice, the drinks were good, and the front desk service was great at first. Then around 4:30 am I woke up to a severe burning smell coming from the heater. I shut it off and called the desk. The woman said it was normal because people were starting to use the heaters, which made sense with it being about 45 out, but she didn’t offer anything else. I tried to put up with it, then woke again at 5:30 with a severe headache and my throat drier than a desert. I called again and was finally moved to another room. I’d put the housekeeping tag on the door, but at 8 am a housekeeper opened it and tried to come in while I was asleep. I’d only fallen asleep at 6, and had to call out that someone was in there. The manager didn’t seem to care when I checked out. I missed most of what I had to do that morning because I was too tired, and the trip was badly interrupted. I’ve used Hilton for years without a problem and have always had pleasant stays. I’m a loyal Hilton member, but this time I was very, very disappointed.

The AAA rate is very good, and the rooms are clean, though some are getting dates. Breakfast is $8 for fruit and a muffin. That’s inexpensive, but it was mediocre. For the same money, you can get an awesome hot sandwich and great coffee at Starbucks or somewhere similar a couple of blocks away.

We found it a great stop off I77 on our way south. The rooms were clean, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast costs extra, but it was good, with a nice dining area and attentive staff. We’ll definitely stop here again. Ask for the AAA discount!

Michael at the front desk was polite and helpful, and our room was very clean. We enjoyed our stay and will come back.
