The peaceful trail and hammocks made it easy to slow down and enjoy the beautiful property. We celebrated our anniversary at River Mountain, and the setting was perfect for it. The food and atmosphere both exceeded our expectations, and we especially liked that there were vegan options, prepared with care and really delicious. Everyone on the team was kind, attentive, and ready to help. You can tell they care about their guests. Thanks to the River Mountain team for making the occasion so memorable. We'll definitely be back!

We ran out of time before trying the yoga, hikes, or natural hot tub because we got so caught up playing board games. Even so, our one night in a Yurt at River Mountain was such a treat, and we'll absolutely come back during the year. The place feels thoughtfully set up for guests. The Yurt had a pellet stove, space heater, and plenty of blankets. In the kitchen, everything was labeled for allergens, with gluten-free and vegan options. They don't nickel-and-dime you either. Need firewood? Take what you need. The hammock area is a neat setup among the trees, with straps already hung near the yoga pods, so you just bring a hammock or tent. It seems like it could be fun for meeting other outdoor-minded people. We were surprised to find such a great hidden gem. It's the sort of place I'd want to enjoy before it gets shown on Instagram, since I imagine booking might get much harder after that.

The grounds were serene, the facilities were clean and nice, and the food was really good. I attended a yoga retreat at River Mountain and had a great time. Everyone was friendly, and I'll definitely look into coming back for another retreat.

The little wooden supply box had fire starters and flashlights, plus a journal visitors can add to. I loved reading everyone's entries, from newlyweds to kids glamping with their kids, and then adding our own story. There was some comedy gold in there too, including one guest calling out another guest's questionable decisions. I won't spoil it, you'll have to read the journal. We shared the stay with our 7-year-old daughter, and all three of us had a fun, relaxing time. My husband wants to tell his boss about it as a company retreat option, and our daughter wants to come back in summer. We booked the yurt as a surprise for our 10th wedding anniversary, and it was perfect: a quiet campground in the middle of nowhere. We got married in December, and it happened to be snowy and unusually windy, with a wind advisory for the area. The folks there offered us a cabin, but we declined. Sleeping in a yurt in perfect weather sounded boring. Snuggling under the heated blanket with the pellet furnace and space heater going was honestly my kind of divine. We'll definitely return to this gem!
