Comfort Inn & Suites St. Pete - Clearwater International Airport

We had to make a last-minute trip because of the weather, so we left home in a rush and hadn't done our usual planning. The front desk helped us at every turn. We asked for things like plates, silverware, and laundry detergent, and the answer was always yes. Even with our three young, excited kids in the lobby and at breakfast, nobody batted an eye. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast had a good selection. For such an affordable price, we expected some hassles, but there weren't any. The service was the best part, and I don't think we've ever had better customer service. We highly recommend the hotel and would seek it out again if we're in the area.

The room stayed bright because there weren't any room-darkening shades, and we like a dark room for sleeping. Other than that, everything was good, including the wonderful breakfast. The employees were very friendly. If you need the airport shuttle, it runs only from 7 am to 3 pm.

The suite was huge, with plenty of space for me as a solo traveler. The man who checked me in was really friendly and upgraded me to a larger room as a courtesy. One elevator was out, though, so getting around took some time. The location is handy for St. Pete/Clearwater Airport, and if you enjoy plane-watching, the hotel is right in line with the main runway. There are lots of restaurants within an easy walk, plus a CVS. I tried the nearby Greek place and liked it. I saw several small cockroaches in the room. Both lobby entrances stayed open around the clock, and you could reach the elevator without going past the front desk. Security could be better, or at least the doors could be locked in the evening.

Aside from airplane noise, this St. Pete Clearwater Choice hotel is at the top of my list for convenience, hospitality, cleanliness, a full breakfast, a shuttle, and pleasant staff and guests. I'm a Diamond member with Choice Hotels and have stayed in plenty of good, great, and not-so-good hotels over the years. In my view, this one has stayed great while other Choice hotels have slipped on service and breakfast, and haven't acted on noise or unruly guests. I took time today to recognize the front desk staff. NANCY was there early before check-in, and I asked whether early check-in might be possible as a Diamond member. She didn't promise anything, but said she'd try if it was possible. A little later she called to say arrangements had been made for me. When I arrived, she greeted me warmly and explained the amenities, checkout, and breakfast times. I understood the early check-in was only a courtesy if possible. I also want to thank the other front desk woman who helped on Monday when I asked, as a Choice Diamond member, for a courtesy late checkout until 12pm. These two stood out for their hospitality, but please recognize the whole front and back staff for their day-to-day work. That's why you're rated so highly. When I visit, this is always my first choice if there's availability. See you soon.
